Originally conceived as a five-year project, Club Amick has just celebrated its’ 10th year in 2016, thanks to the generosity of the many funders.
The Government of Ontario has been the lead funder through several ministries and the Ontario Trillium Foundation. In addition, hundreds of individuals and organizations have stepped forward with donations over the years. The Southern Ontario Library Service (SOLS) and Ontario Library Service – North (OLS-North) coordinate all aspects of Club Amick.
With grants from the Government of Ontario through the ministries of Aboriginal Affairs and Education, we have been able to continue the program for 2016-2017. In the past, materials were sent out four times a year. Because of reduced funding materials are now sent out three times a year.
Many independent sponsors have stepped forward over the years, with gifts of money, or services. If you would like to help Club Amick spread a love for reading and promote literacy in First Nations communities, please consider donating.
