Deer Lake
Boozhoo! Aanii! Tansi! Hello! In October 2009, Chad Solomon and E.T.
the Librarian visited Club Amick readers at David Meekis Memorial School
located in Deer Lake First Nation. During their visit, Chad held an
interactive art workshop for enthusiastic Club Amick readers. Readers
learned how to draw the main characters of Rabbit and Bear Paws
and how reading for fun can include creating their own stories and
characters. The workshop ended with plenty of questions from Club Amick
readers and a chance for them to win prizes. Before leaving the
community, Chad and E.T. were taken on a tour of the community which
included a visit to the local radio station. Everyone they met was
happy to share their own ideas about Club Amick!
Chad and E.T. had a wonderful time at Deer Lake and would like to send a
huge Miigwech to the school and community for making their stay so
enjoyable.
