Poetry Contest:

Hello, Club Amick Readers!

Congratulations! To the following poetry contest winners:

Grand Prize: “The Spirits are Coming" St. Andrew's School in Kashechewan.

The Spirits are Coming
As I walk through the night
I feel breezes going through my hair
When I walk through a forest
I feel a chill go down my spine
That’s when I know…
The spirits are coming by

Second Prize:     “Love’s Secret” St. Andrews's School in Kashechewan.

Love’s Secret
Never seek to tell thee love,
Love that never can be;
For the gentle wind doth move
Silently, invisibly
I told my love, I told my love
Trembling, cold in ghostly fears
As she did depart
Soon after he was gone from me,
A traveler came by;
Silently, invisibly
She took him with a sigh

Third Prize:       “My Own Poem” Eenchokay Birchstick School in Pikangikum.

My Own Poem
I’ve always been the kind of girl that hides my face so afraid to tell the world what I’ve got to say. But I have this dream right inside of me I’m going to let it showIts time to let you know is to let you know this is real. This is me; I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be. Now gonna let the light shine on me Now I’ve found who I am and there’s no way to hold it in. No more hiding who I wanna be this is me. Do you know what its like to feel so in the dark to dream about a life where you the shining star even though it seems like it’s so far away? I have to believe in myself it’s the only way.

Fourth Prize:     “Creak, Creak, Creak” Washaho School in Fort Severn.

Creak Creak Creak
Creak creak creak
There I seek
An old house is
What I peek
Dark, creepy
Evil, black
So creepy it went
Pitch black….
There I wake
On the floor….
Floating red eye that I didn’t
Want to see no more!!

The poets will receive prizes for their efforts. Miigwech to all for participating!
